The investigators shadow Edgar Wellington through Lausanne, uncover signs he may be copying or forging the mysterious scroll, only to arrive at the supposed 7.30 Club and learn that both Wellington and the ageless French Duke have abruptly canceled their meeting.

In Lausanne, the investigators’ pursuit of Wellington’s mysterious scroll draws them into an uneasy meeting with his broken brother, a secretive occultist Duke, and a chilling echo of Constantinople that suggests old powers and old faces have not aged as they should.

After surviving a shared and soul-scarring Dreamlands ordeal, the investigators reach Lausanne and trace Wellington’s letter to a taxidermy shop, where polite inquiry reveals a hidden scroll, the name Malon, and the unsettling presence of the shell-shocked William Wellington.

Aboard the nightmare-warped Orient Express, the investigators cast their burdens into the Gulf of Nodens, surviving ghosts, winged horrors, and a red-eyed sorcerer, and the survivors wake changed as the train nears Lausanne.

The Dreamlands Express transforms into a flying train-plane and plunges toward the Gulf of Nodens as Claire pilots through cannon fire, Per reshapes reality, Viola and Arthur battle spectral cavalry, and the investigators begin casting away their deepest burdens.
